Cayla Huang holds two roles on the ALSA Auckland founding executive: Operations Director and Mentoring Officer. As Operations Director she oversees how the organisation runs day to day. As Mentoring Officer she is building the programme that connects final-year students with practitioners and recent graduates navigating the transition into the profession. Holding both roles simultaneously reflects the breadth she brings to the cabinet.
Outside ALSA, Cayla is Community Team Co-Manager at the Equal Justice Project, where she liaises with community law centres and Citizens Advice Bureaus to place student volunteers and coordinates team projects aligned with the EJP's access to justice mission. She also serves as Marketing Executive at the UoA Volunteers Club, managing social media platforms with over 4,000 followers and developing campaigns to drive student recruitment and engagement throughout the year.
She holds a Level 4 Diploma in Public Speaking from Trinity College London and an HSK Level 6 certificate in Mandarin, the highest level of the international Chinese proficiency examination. Combined with her spoken Cantonese, she communicates effectively across three languages, a capability that sits directly at the intersection of ALSA's mission and the profession's growing need for cultural and linguistic range.
Cayla is completing a conjoint LLB/BCom majoring in Accounting at the University of Auckland, with a particular interest in criminal law. She holds an International Baccalaureate Diploma and is a member of Equal Justice Project, UoA Women in Law, and UoA Women in Business.
