Maggie Xie is the Founding Secretary of ALSA Auckland, responsible for the organisation's governance infrastructure, records, and administrative continuity. She joined the founding executive at ALSA's formation and has maintained the institutional backbone of the organisation since its first days.

Maggie brings an unusually broad academic foundation to the role. She completed a conjoint BSc/BCom at the University of Auckland before returning to study law, and is currently completing an LLB(Hons)/BCom. Across both degrees, she holds First in Course Awards in seven subjects spanning law, accounting, statistics, economics, psychology, physics, and Chinese. That range is not incidental. It reflects the way she approaches problems.

Her legal experience is equally grounded. She interned at the NZ Police Prosecution Service in 2025, gaining direct exposure to criminal prosecution practice. She is a Style Editor at the Auckland University Law Review, a selective publication role that requires sustained engagement with legal writing at a high standard. She is also a Student Representative on the Health and Safety Law Committee at The Law Association of New Zealand, selected through the Equal Justice Project's 2026 cohort alongside students placed across the profession's leading practice areas.

Before law, Maggie worked as a Dental Nurse and Receptionist at Belich Dental for over four years, a role that built the client management and operational discipline she now brings to ALSA's governance work.
